Countdown to Women’s Caribbean Cup

Nine overseas based potential players will join Bermuda for the upcoming Women’s Caribbean Cup tournament, set to open it qualifying round on May 23rd.

The Bermudans, under the instructions of Head Coach Naquita Robinson, will compete against the hosts Turks & Caicos, the Cayman Islands and St Kitts & Nevis with the dream of qualifying for the CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup as well as the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Bermuda is expected to field mature players as well as youthful players with the likes of sixteen year old Eva Frazzoni the youngest player on the teams and Waynesha Bean, 34, who is the eldest player on the squad to date.

The team will be well equipped with nine overseas based potential players, who have been included to reinforce the squad in order to outplay their opponents and make their dream a reality.

Head Coach Robinson who said, “Our goal is to qualify for the next round and go as far as we can after. It’s good to have more international competition at the senior level. As it relates to preparations, training has been ongoing with the local players who have been working hard on the basics of the game. Hopefully with the experience of the overseas players, we expect to do well and make it to the next stage.”

The overseas players are Jadea Smith - Goalkeeper (Montverde Academy), Dominique Richardson - Midfielder (Barry College), Teara Thomas - Defender (Florida College), Sarai Paul - Defender (Montverde Academy), Chelsea Harvey - Goalkeeper (Georgia Military College), Akeyla Furbert - Midfielder (USC), Aiken Khyla Brangman - Midfielder (Flager College), Jenay Edness - Midfielder (University of Prince Edward Island) and Marley Christian - Defender (McDonogh School).
