The 20th RO Smith Annual Over-40’s Football match between the St. George’s Colts All-Stars and the Somerset Trojans All-Stars once again drew a large crowd at the Somerset Cricket Club, as players of yester years turn back the clock and entertained.
Players such as Dwayne Richardson, Wayne Butterfield, Gladstone Robinson and George Jones suited up for the West End, while Milton Jones, Cal Raynor, Delbert Minors and Stephen Dickinson all took to the field for the East Enders.
St. George’s came into the game as the defending champions and needed penalty kicks to retain the title.
Duane DeRosa gave Somerset the lead in the 87th minute, only to have Dickinson equalize on the stroke of full time, thus sending the game to be decided by Kicks From the Penalty Mark.
In the end St. George’s only need to take four kicks as their goalkeeper Troy Hall saved one Somerset kick and watched another go over the top, Hall, Dickinson, Delbert Minors and Derek Wright all converted for St. George’s. Rodney Bascome scored the lone Somerset penalty.
