Lambe & Toronto Start With a Win

IslandStats.com
Reggie Lambe and his Toronto FC Teammates have begun their pre-season match schedule with a win over DC United.

Toronto FC got their preseason started against DC United in a battle of two of the East's worst teams last year. However, both teams have made significant improvements this offseason and many have both teams contending for an MLS Cup at the end of the campaign. Despite a terrible fog in Florida for this game, it went ahead as scheduled as the world got it's first glimpse of Michael Bradley on the pitch for Toronto FC.

It would be Nigerian international Bright Dike that would get the lone goal in this game as Toronto FC would win 1-0 in their first game of 2014. Although the games won't start counting until next month, it is good for the Reds to get in the win column. Dike will be competing for a starting spot up top all season long, and scoring the winner against DC will help give him an added boost of confidence.

Toronto FC headed into the game against DC United with match fitness being the biggest concern as the team was simply looking to give as many players game time as possible. Both teams put out completely different lineups in the second half that featured many younger players that are looking to earn a spot on the roster.
