Mussenden Speaks on Election

As we reported yesterday, Larry Mussenden was elected as the new 2nd Vice President of the New Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Executive.

Following being elected Mussenden said, "It will be a pleasure to work on the Executive with President Derrick, who several of us in the BFA have known for quite some years, along with the other newly elected CFU Executive Members.”

Out of 30 Caribbean countries voting, there was no clear majority winner in first round so vote went to second round. In the second round Mussenden received 16 votes, Horace Reid (General Secretary Jamaica Football Federation) got 9 votes and Osirus Guzman (President Dominican Republic FA) got 5 votes.

Mussenden continued, “The Congress was an exciting affair with some close votes. However, we are all committed to turning the page of the last year and focusing on the future with technical development, marketing and bringing benefits to all the CFU countries.”

“I thank the BFA for its support for my nomination and look forward to ensuring that Bermuda continues to have input in the business of football in the international arena. I'm also eager to bring along other BFA administrators into international football administration in the various areas,” Mussenden went on to say.

Mussenden concluded, “Finally, in a vision set out by President Derrick, we look forward to working towards CFU countries advancing to FIFA final competitions similar to other countries in CONCACAF and beyond."
