Wells Wins Bradford Goal of the Year

There could only be one winner for Bradford City’s goal of the season.

And no, it wasn’t Luke Oliver.

The big man has chipped in with two valuable efforts – the bundled late winner at Southend and a header in the JP Trophy against Huddersfield.

But it wasn’t enough to tip the vote in my unofficial poll of City fans on Twitter this week.

Oliver’s effort at the Galpharm did get a nomination – purely because of who it was scored against – but was never in the running.

No surprises for guessing which goal romped it.

The FA Cup screamer against Rochdale that announced the arrival of Nahki Wells would have got my nod.

And that was a view shared by the huge majority of those who registered their vote.

Wells scooped a whopping 43 per cent of the nominations, with Michael Flynn a distant second on 11 for his impressive strike at Leeds in the first round of the Carling Cup.

Third place, and the best-placed league goal, went to Kyel Reid’s smart finish at Burton with eight per cent.
