ISL 2012 Extravaganza Announced

David Bascome the Commissioner of the Island Soccer League said, “It is time to take a breath.”

“For the first time in its’ 6 year history, the Island Soccer League will expand its’ season to a 2 year strategy and approach. In order to capitalize on a great media opportunity with Fox Soccer Channel, we have decided to combine the 2012 and 2013 seasons,” continued Bascome.

Bascome went on to say, “The 2012 season will consist of a weekend “extravaganza” with the tagline of “Family – Fun – Football” that consists of multiple all-star games (youth, and Senior/Celebrity), a youth soccer clinic, entertainment from local acts, involvement from the Major Indoor Soccer League, a scouting combine that will include US/Foreign coaches and scouts, a weekend ISL tournament, an awards ceremony and more. The entire event will be highlighted and featured on a future ISL show on Fox Soccer Channel.”

“More importantly, this will provide the exposure that I promised Bermuda since the inception of the Island Soccer League,” continued Bascome.

Bascome concluded, “With the overwhelming success of the 2011 All-Star season (which led to 8 ISL players being selected to attend MISL tryouts), management decided that in order to move forward in a larger way, the ISL had to take the 2012 season to bring in international awareness and in-kind support, so that the ISL would be viewed as a gateway to future professional soccer contracts across the globe. We are now in position to make this happen. ACE Insurance will be the Title Sponsor for the ISL Extravaganza, and we’ve targeted the month of August for this event.”
