CONCACAF & BFA Host Coach Educator Workshop
|
CONCACAF, in partnership with the Bermuda Football Association successfully delivered a Train the Trainer Workshop in Bermuda at the Clyde Best Center of Excellence, aimed at equipping current and future coach educators with the competencies required to deliver high-quality, impactful coach education in alignment with the CONCACAF Coaching Convention.
The Concacaf Coaching Convention is a regulatory framework designed to standardize the quality of coach education across the 41 Member Associations of Concacaf.
This workshop represents a strategic investment in the technical development capacity of participating Member Associations, reinforcing the one Concacaf family commitment to the advancement of coach education structures and coaching across the region.
Facilitated by CONCACAF’s Coach Educator Developers Lenny Lake, and Andre Virtue, Maurice Lowe and Andre Waugh, Concacaf Coach Education Senior Manager, the program emphasized the role of coach educators as learning facilitators, mentors, and evaluators. Participants engaged in a comprehensive series of sessions covering adult learning principles, learner-centered methodologies, assessment, and effective course delivery—both in theoretical and practical environments.
The following coach educators participated in the workshop:
Shequita Parson, Jake Littlejohn, Aaron Denkins, Kimmisha Perinchief, and Gary Adams “Developing a network of skilled coach educators is central to achieving our long-term vision for coaching excellence in the region,” said Jason Roberts, Concacaf Chief Football Development Officer. “The Train the Trainer initiative provides Member Associations with the capacity to deliver meaningful education that supports coach growth and ultimately benefits players at every level. We commend the Bermuda Football Association for their leadership and commitment to this important work.”
Shequita Parson Head of Coach Education at the Bermuda Football Association highlighted the importance of the initiative: “Being part of this coach educator course has opened my eyes to the delicate balance between teaching and facilitating. I'm discovering that the most powerful moments happen when we create space for coaches to connect their own experiences with new concepts. This journey is showing me that true educator leadership isn't about having all the answers, but about asking the right questions that inspire reflection and growth.”
Mark Wade, President of the Bermuda football Association, expressed appreciation for the collaboration: “We are delighted to have Andre Waugh and Lenny Lake return to Bermuda joined by Andre Virtue. Together with Bermuda Technical Development Director, Maurice Lowe they have led a dynamic workshop to empower our new coach educators. With this addition to our coach educator team, we take another step forward in coach education and improving the standard of coaching for our players.”
This workshop supports CONCACAF’s long-term goal to raise coaching standards by building strong learning communities and delivering consistent, high-quality training across all Member Associations.

Fishel Nets Emotional First Goal Since Injury
|
Mia Fishel marked a heartwarming moment in her comeback journey, scoring her first goal since a long-term ACL injury, as her Chelsea Women's side swept aside Crystal Palace with a dominant 4-0 victory on Wednesday night. The win takes the Blues a significant step closer to securing their sixth consecutive Women's Super League title.
It was a performance brimming with American influence for Emma Hayes' side, with Catarina Macario orchestrating proceedings with a brilliant two goal performance. Fellow USWNT star Naomi Girma also made her return to the starting XI, having recovered from an injury sustained on her debut.
Chelsea were in control from the outset at Kingsmeadow, creating a flurry of chances while resolutely denying Crystal Palace any meaningful opportunities. The deadlock was broken in the 22nd minute when Guro Reiten converted from the penalty spot after her cross was handled in the box.
The floodgates seemingly opened from that point. Just two minutes later, Macario doubled the lead with a composed finish. The American star was instrumental again as her deflected free-kick made it three shortly after half-time. The free-kick was awarded after Palace's Allyson Swaby was shown a straight red card for bringing down Sjoeke Nusken who was racing clear on goal.
While the dominant performance and emphatic result served as the perfect response to their heavy Champions League semi-final first-leg defeat to Barcelona at the weekend, the night held significance for several returning Chelsea players. Alongside Girma and Reiten marking their comebacks with influential performances, Maelys Mpome also returned from a quad injury in the second half.
However, the loudest cheer of the night was undoubtedly reserved for Fishel. The young American forward, who has been sidelined for 15 months after suffering a devastating ACL tear, finally found the back of the net, sparking joyous celebrations amongst her teammates and the Kingsmeadow faithful. Her goal, a testament to her resilience and determination, capped off a resounding victory for Chelsea as they edge closer to another WSL crown. They now require just four points from their remaining three league matches to retain the title they have held since 2020.

Crichlow & Burgess Win Clubs End of Season Awards
|
Chelmsford City held their annual end-of-season awards ceremony, and it was a night to remember for Bermudian forward Kane Crichlow, who remarkably scooped all three of the club's major accolades.
Club Captain Cameron James had the honor of presenting Crichlow with the prestigious Players' Player of the Season award, highlighting the high regard in which he is held by his teammates. Prior to Charlie Ruff's brace in the final game of the season, Crichlow had been the Clarets' leading marksman and held the distinction of being the only player to have scored a hat-trick for the club throughout the campaign.
The accolades didn't stop there for the talented forward. Chelmsford City Manager Robbie Simpson further underlined Crichlow's importance to the team by naming him as the Manager's Player of the Season, recognizing his consistent performances and contribution to the side.
To cap off a memorable evening, Kane Crichlow completed a clean sweep of the top honors by also winning the Supporters' Player of the Season award. This recognition from the Chelmsford City faithful underscores the impact he has made on the fans with his performances throughout the season.
Crichlow's hat-trick of awards is a testament to his outstanding season for the National League South club, where his goals and dynamic play have made him a firm favorites both in the dressing room and on the terraces.
Meanwhile, Harborough Town FC also held their end-of-season awards ceremony for the First Team, and young Bermudian talent Jutorre Burgess was recognized for his promising contributions, being named the club's Young Player of the Season.
The award highlights the impact Burgess has made during the campaign for Harborough Town. While the specific details of his performances weren't available at the time of the awards, the recognition as Young Player of the Season suggests that the winger has impressed both the coaching staff and the Harborough Town faithful with his development and potential throughout the year.
Burgess, who has also represented Bermuda at youth international level, will undoubtedly be encouraged by this accolade as he continues to develop his career with the club. Harborough Town will be hoping that this recognition spurs him on to further progress and become an integral part of their First Team in the seasons to come.
