The YAO Baseball Leagues team on Day 3 of the Babe Ruth Under 12 Southeast Regional Tournament went down to Dundee from South Florida.
A day after the Bermuda Team took on Gaffney from South Carolina defeating them 7 – 0, they were matched up again against the team from South Florida going down 6 - 3.
The game was pretty close, but the Bermuda Team gave up a late grand slam that made the difference.
Coach Chris Dougherty said, “KJ Moreno got a single and Riley MacNeil took some good cuts before striking out, but it was definitely a whole different level than most of these kids have seen before.”
“We were also pretty depleted pitching wise, but Jaylen Martin threw 4 2/3 workmanlike innings with Joey Dougherty getting the final out in the 5th. Martin pitched well but gave up 3 HR’s, none of which would have been homers at our park. The dimensions are quite short here. 180 to left and cant me more than 200 to dead center. That means lots of line drives that are doubles or caught in our league are homers here,” concluded Dougherty.
