The Phillies are the YAO Senior League Baseball Champions following their 9 – 8 win over the Red Sox. The game had a really exciting finish as the Phillies were down 2 in the bottom of the 7 with 2 out.
Evan Hughes legged out an infield single, Hughes then stole second and Abraham Saul drove him in with a single. David Jones brought Saul home with a towering double to tie the game. On the very next pitch Scott Hendrick drove home the speedy Jones with a single to win the game and championship for the Phillies. David Lehmann in relief throwing 3 innings gave up no hits while striking out 4 earned the win.
In the Semifinals the Red Sox defeated the Blue Jays 18 – 15, with Mikey Daly picking up the win, while the Phillies defeated the Nationals 17 – 8, with Hughes earning the win.
