The Deloitte Open Tennis and Pickleball Tournament will take place at Pomander Gate Tennis Club from June 18 to July 2.
Pickleball, featured for the second time in the annual tournament will see the island’s best players go head-to-head competing in singles and doubles events at various skill levels. Ladies, Men’s, and Mixed Doubles competitions are open for pickleball registration at the 3.4 & below and 3.5 & above rating levels.
New to the pickleball event categories, the tournament will play host to advanced players in a 4.0 & above division for Men’s Singles and Doubles as well as a Junior Fun Event. The junior event, aimed at young players between the ages of 10 to 14, seeks to introduce the game to a new generation of players and will see them paired with rotating partners. Referees will help with scoring and court positioning.

The tennis tournament, amongst the most popular on the tennis calendar in Bermuda, will be sanctioned by the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) and will offer valuable ranking points. Further, it comes at an exciting time of year with many overseas players returning home eager to make their mark on the local tennis scene.
Gordon went on to say, “It is a great opportunity to see some of the best players both old and young in competition. In that regard we plan on staging a Marquee Finals evening on Friday 1st July 2022 commencing at 5:30pm with two featured matches, the Ladies ‘A’ Singles Final and the Men’s ‘A’ Singles Finals.”
Tennis events will run from June 25 – July 2 and will be played daily from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekday evenings and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the weekend. Pickleball matches will be heavily focused at the weekends between 8:00 am – 8:00 pm, with some matches scheduled to take place between 4:00 – 8:00 pm through the week.
