Playing in their first postseason match since 2017, Luke Attride-Stirling and his No. 4 seed Adelphi University Men's Tennis teammates defeated fifth-seeded Bentley University, 4-2, in the Quarter-Finals of the 2021 Northeast-10 Conference Championship at the USTA National Tennis Center.
The last Adelphi (6-3) win in the NE10 Tournament before today's action occurred in 2016 when they defeated Merrimack in the Semi-Finals, 5-1, and advanced to their second-straight NE10 Championship Final.
In pairs play, Attride-Stirling and Andrew Ray would fall at the number 3 Doubles position 6-3 to Connor Aulson and Kendall Au, but wins at the number 1 & 2 spots secured the point for Adelphi.
In singles, Bentley pulled the contest even at 2-apiece and the match was left in the hands of the bottom halves of the teams' lineups.
Attride-Stirling put Adelphi one point away with a straight-set 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) decision at No. 4 singles spot over Jordan Soifer.
Adelphi would win the fifth singles to advance.
