Bermuda’s Men’s Davis Cup team featuring Gavin Manders, David Thomas, Jenson Bascome and Trey Mallory began competing in the Americas Division III Pool B going on in Costa Rica.
Bermuda in their opening match took on Antigua & Barbuda and went down 2 - 1.
Playing in his first ever Davis Cup match, Mallory would come off the court recording a straight sets win over Kevin Gardner, Mallory would win 7-6, 6-2.
Antigua & Barbuda would level the match at 1 – 1, when Thomas went down in straight sets 6–1, 6–3 to Herbert Maginley.
The match would be decided by the Doubles with Manders and Bascome going up against Carlton Bedminster and Maginley.
Manders and Bascome won the First Set 7-6, but Bedminster and Maginley won the Second Set 6-4, Bedminster and Maginley would then close out the match winning the Third and Final set 6 – 3 to win the match.
