Tyler Smith and her Jackson State Women’s Tennis teammates picked up fall play where they left off last spring at the South Fulton Tennis Center.
They finished as runner-ups in the SWAC Tennis Tournament, advanced to the Quarter-Final Round of the HBCU National Tennis Championships.
After the first day of the event, four of the seven Jackson State Women’s Tennis players advanced to the next round. Smith and Nina Zhang advanced to the next round in Flight A, while Lucia Solis advanced in Flight B and Oni Jones in Flight C. Ariel Dickson fell in a tough opening round and Chloe Gauvreau-Dredge won her first match but fell short in her second match.
Smith defeated Haile Parker of Johnson C Smith University in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
In Doubles action Smith and Solis move on to Quarter-Finals after they defeated Liza Bessonova and Milan Graves from the Delaware State University 8 - 1.
