Billy Boyle and his Rollins' College Men’s Tennis teammates, who were tabbed No. 34 nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, have been selected fourth overall in the Sunshine State Conference Preseason Poll.
Rollins is coming off a year that saw them go 9-14 overall, and 2-4 in conference action. Rollins came on strong towards the end of the 2016 season, winning three of their last four regular season contests, and defeating Florida Southern in the first round of the SSC Championship. Rollins saw their season end in the second round against top-seeded, and eventual national runner-up, Saint Leo.
Barry, No. 7 in the ITA ranking, took the top spot in the preseason rankings, claiming 34 total votes, and four first place nods. Lynn, No. 8 in the ITA poll, came in behind the Bucs, receiving 30 total votes, and one first place tally. The Fighting Knights edged Saint Leo, No. 2 in the ITA rankings, by one point, the Lions totaling 29, with two first place votes.
Rollins sits in the middle of the poll, the Tars taking the fourth position, with 20 votes. The Mocs of Florida Southern, who are one place behind Rollins in the ITA Poll at No. 35, come in at fifth with 18 votes. Rounding out the poll are Florida Tech with 11 votes, and Eckerd with six.
