The JITIC Tournament (Junior International Tennis Championships for Central America and the Caribbean) continued in El Salvador.
Ricky Mallory Junior and Scott Redmond are representing Bermuda in the Under 16’s Boys Division.
Mallory took on Alejandro Piedra the number one player from Costa Rica, going down 6-2, 6-1. Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association President Michael Wolfe said, “Mallory played some of the best tennis I've seen him play despite the score. The guy he played was a steady player and did not miss much. This 16's tournament is a good warm up for him come next week when he plays in the 14's.”
Redmond played Nathan Recao from Curacao in the Boy’s Consolation Round going down 6-3, 6-4. “Redmond played a lot better and had a chance to go up 5-4 in the second after having a game point at 4-4,” said Wolfe.
The Bermuda pair Mallory and Redmond then advanced in the Boy’s Doubles needing three sets to get pass Darren Martis and Nathan Recao from Curacao.
Mallory and Redmond won the first set 6-3, the pair however went down in the second set 6-4, before Mallory and Redmond closed out the match winning the third and final set 11-9.
