Daniel Phillips continued playing in the Grade 1 Tennis Europe Yellow Bowl Tennis Championships in Telde, Gran Canaria, Spain.
Playing in the Round of 64 Main Draw, Phillips went down in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 to Gilles Arnaud BAILLY FROM Belgium the 8th seed.

Phillips Advances in Europe Championships in Spain
Daniel Phillips travelled with the Rafa Nadal Academy coaches and team to compete at the Grade 1 Tennis Europe Yellow Bowl Tennis Championships in Telde, Gran Canaria, Spain.
Phillips has made it through the 3 Qualifying Rounds and will take his place in the 64 Main Draw.
Coach Sam Maybury said, “Phillips’ focus has grown with this summer’s ITF COTECC results, which is translating to a greater level of commitment at the academy holistically. Phillips has raised his GPA, his fitness and his match play.
Phillips physical growth is giving his more power while his mental growth is giving him confidence.”
Phillips playing in the Tennis Europe Level 1 Boy’s 14 Singles Qualifying Round First Round match defeated Alfredo Aparicio Eszlinger from Spain in straight sets 6-1, 6-0, in his Second Round match Phillips defeated Dennis Andre Dutine from Germany who was the number 4 seed in the Qualifiers in straight sets 7-5, 7-6.
Phillips would take on Jonathan Harwood from Great Britain in the Final Qualifying Round, Phillips would defeat Harwood in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.
Maybury continued, “Phillips is participating for his third year in the Tennis Europe Group 1 Gran Canaria Yellow Bowl Tennis Championships.
At age 13 he is currently playing in the 14’s. Phillips has impressed his coaches with an amazing start. RNA Coach Andreas said that he was very happy with what Phillips did in his matches. He said unfortunately he did not have a bye like the others. He said Phillips was the only one who had to play 3 matches from the Academy. He is totally motivated. Coach Andreas along with one of the fitness coaches, said they are very proud of what Phillips is doing in his match performance on the fitness side and the winning results.”

Bermuda ITF Junior Open Day Five
The Final Day of the Bermuda ITF Junior Open Tennis Tournament took place at the WER Joell Tennis Stadium.
In Men’s Singles action the number two seed Jeffrey Fradkin from the USA defeated Christopher Heck from Canada in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 to win the Men’s Title.
Surprise package Rebecca Lynn from the USA defeated the Ladies number one seed Nicole Kiefer also from the USA in straight sets 6-0, 6-3.
In the Men’s Doubles Final the number one seed Spencer Brachman and Fradkin both from the USA defeated Matthew Doe from Great Britain and Trey Mallory from Bermuda in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

Bermuda ITF Junior Open Day Four
It was Semi-Finals and Ladies Doubles Final day at the WER Joell Tennis Stadium as the Bermuda ITF Junior Open Tennis Tournament draws closer to the end.
In the Boy’s Singles Semi-Final number one seed Spencer Brachman from the USA was defeated by Christopher Heck from Canada in straight sets 6-4, 6-3, Heck will face the number two seed Jeffrey Fradkin from the USA in the Final after Fradkin defeated Matthew Doe from Great Britain in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
In the Ladies Singles Semi-Finals number one seed Nicole Kiefer from the USA advanced to the Final following her three set victory over Petra Miszczak from Canada 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, while unseeded Rebecca Lynn from the USA advanced to the Final in only her second junior Tennis Tournament following her straight sets 6-4, 6-1 win over the number three seed Shirley Liang from Canada.
Trey Mallory and his Boy’s Doubles partner Doe advanced to the Doubles Final with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Sebastien Collard from Canada and his partner William Kasten from the USA. The pair will face off against the number one seeds Brachman and Fradkin in the Final after they defeated Christopher Heck from Canada and Ellis Short from USA in their Semi-Final 6-3, 6-3.
Kiefer and Shirley Liang from Canada were crowned the Ladies Doubles Champions after they defeated Kyra Foster from the USA and Miszczak in a three se battle 3-6, 6-2, 10-7.

Bermuda ITF Junior Open Day Three
The Bermuda ITF Junior Open continued at the WER Joell Tennis Stadium continue with Quarter-Final action taking place early in the day, we have decided to report it early so that the printed press would have something to copy as they have failed to cover the event due to us reporting the information later that printing time….
The number one Boy’s Singles seed Spencer Brachman from USA advanced to the Semi-Finals with a straight sets 6-2, 6-2 win over Charlie Penman from Great Britain, while the number one Ladies seed Nicole Kiefer from USA advanced to the Semi-Finals with a straight sets 6-0, 6-1 win over Aleia De Buretel from USA.
Bermuda’s Trey Mallory and his doubles partner Matthew Doe from Great Britain advanced to the Doubles Semi-Finals with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Philippe Mercelina from the Netherlands and Juan Jose Vega Lebrija from Mexico.
Bermuda pair Scott Redmond and Tariq Simons went down in their Doubles Quarter-Final match in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 to Spencer Brachman and Jeffrey Fradkin both from the USA.
