22 Yards Cricket Club and USA Cricket have got the ICC sanction to host the 2nd edition of the Unity Cup T20 tournament in the Washington DC area from May 25th – 30th, 2022 at the venues of Veterans Cricket field and Bolen Parks Cricket Fields.
Two players from Bermuda have been included in Kamau Leverock and Tre Manders have been drafted into the Florida Scorpions squad.
The tournament will see thirteen (13) teams compete with most of the players taking part also registered to play the 2nd edition of Minor League Cricket (MiLC) in June 2022.
The tournament will have the 13 teams divided into four (4) groups and will play their round-robin group stage matches, before the knock-out stages of the competition. Group A consists of teams from Clarion County Asia UTD, RDU, and Stallions, while Group B consists of teams from Cavaliers 22 Yards, Potomac, DMV Warriors, and Yankee Royals.
Group C consists of teams from Atlanta Fire, SAMP Army and Stallions X, while Group D will consist of teams from Cric Lanes, Florida Scorpions and Skky Strikers.
All the teams feature players from the USA domestic circuit, including overseas professionals who have signed up with MiLC in the past couple of years and also players from other Associate member boards.
Some of the known players from other overseas countries include the likes of Nitish Kumar, David Wiese, Gareth Delaney, Basant Regmi, Rizwan Cheema, Saad bin Zafar, Manders, Dilon Heyliger, Leverock, Nikhil Dutta, Aryan Lakra, Tom Bruce, Hussain Talat, Riki Wessels, Samit Patel, Neil Broom, Nyeem Young, Kesrick Williams, Peter Younghusband, Tom Barber, Rayad Emrit and others.
