Leverock & Voyagers Fall in Barbados T10 Opener

IslandStats.com
Settlers Win by 22 Runs

Settlers 129/1 Voyagers 107/5

The third edition of the Barbados T10 cricket tournament got underway at Windward Park in Bridgetown, with the Settlers claiming a convincing 22-run victory over the Voyagers. Kamau Leverock and his Voyagers teammates faced a tough challenge against a strong Settlers batting lineup.

After a rain delay, the Voyagers won the toss and elected to field. The Settlers made a strong start, posting an imposing total of 129/1 from their 10 overs. Kevin Wickham top-scored with an unbeaten 44, while Kevin Stoute provided excellent support with an unbeaten 43. The pair shared a crucial 87-run partnership for the second wicket, which laid the foundation for the Settlers' imposing total. Giovonte Depeiza was the pick of the Voyagers bowlers, taking 1-17 from his two overs, while Leverock conceded 15 runs from his solitary over.

In reply, the Voyagers struggled to keep pace with the required run rate, eventually finishing on 107/5. Akeem Springer provided some resistance with a knock of 33, but the Voyagers lost wickets at regular intervals. Leverock was dismissed LBW for 3, batting at number four. Marlon Welcome-Goodman was the most economical bowler for the Settlers, conceding just 2 runs from his single over and claiming a wicket.

The Settlers' victory was built on a strong batting performance, with Wickham and Stoute proving particularly difficult to dislodge. The Voyagers, despite Springer's efforts, were unable to match the required run rate and ultimately fell short.

This opening match sets the tone for what promises to be an exciting tournament. The Settlers have laid down a marker with their impressive performance, while the Voyagers will be looking to bounce back in their next fixture.
