Delray Rawlins teammate Ali Orr’s second century of the season ensured Sussex secured a draw on the fourth day of our LV= Insurance County Championship match against Leicestershire at The 1st Central County Ground.
It was a match of high scores for both sides, with the Sussex batters putting on 588 in their first innings, only for Leicestershire to surpass that total, reaching a record score at Hove of 756.
The visitors came out on day four looking to score as quickly as possible to give them the best chances of winning.
Colin Ackermann (277) and Wiaan Mulder (235) both achieved career high scores, and eventually declared at lunch on the final day, leaving Sussex trailing by 168 runs.
Ali Orr continued his fine form this season, scoring quickly and playing positively, reaching 106 runs from 123 deliveries. He had support once again from the in-form Tom Alsop, who made another half-century to ensure Sussex drew the game, with the captains eventually shaking hands at 4:50pm.
Head Coach Ian Salisbury will no doubt be pleased with the efforts of his players, particularly in the first innings when Orr, Rawlins, Carter and James Coles all made half-centuries.
