Western Stars defeated Tuff Dogs by 8 wickets in the First Round of the Central County Cup competition at the Devonshire Recreation Club.
Batting first Tuff Dogs were bowled out for 153, this after an opening wicket partnership of 68 between MacLaren Lowe and Jayden Alberteze. Lowe was the team’s top scorer with 44, while Alberteze added 30, Treddie Gibbons was the pick of the Western Stars bowlers returning figures of 5.5-0-22-4.
In reply after losing their first two wickets with the score on 2, Tre Manders and Gibbons guided the Western Stars to victory. Gibbons was the top scorer with 73, while Manders added 70. Justin Pitcher was the only Tuff Dogs bowler to claim a wicket returning figures of 4-0-25-1.
