Kent v Sussex – Beckenham
It may not be the fiercest of local rivalries, but there will be a few scores to settle in this clash next summer.
Canterbury was not a happy hunting ground for Rawlins and his Sussex teammates in the Bob Willis Trophy, so the South Coast side may be rather pleased to see the 2021 fixture being played at Beckenham instead.
The 2020 clash started well, with Rawlins and his teammates scoring 332 in the first innings, with Rawlins scoring 20, but it went a bit downhill from there.
Jordan Cox and Daniel Bell-Drummond added 107 for the first Kent wicket, before Cox and Jack Leaning rewrote the record books with an unbeaten stand of 423, with both players recording double centuries.
Had they not been forced to declare after 120 overs, as per the Bob Willis Trophy rules, they could well have batted out the remaining three days of the match without losing their wickets.
Having declared at 530/1, Kent then bowled out the visitors for 173, with Rawlins scoring 19, as Kent would win by an innings and 25 runs – a result massaged slightly by a 60-run final-wicket partnership between Stuart Meaker and Mitch Clayden.
The reverse fixture starts on May 13th at the 1st Central County Ground, Hove.
