BCB Announce Youth Leagues for 2020

The Executive of the Bermuda Cricket Board announced the start of the 2020 BCB Under 11 and Under 14 Youth Leagues.

Hiscox will continue to be the title sponsor of the Under 11 League with games being played on Monday’s and Wednesday’s until September 9th at Warwick Academy Field.

Teams include: Warwick Academy, Warwick Workmen’s Club, Somerset Cricket Club and Cleveland County.

Mike Krefta, CEO Hiscox Re & ILS, said, “Hiscox are once again proud to support youth cricket in Bermuda.

Our sincere thanks go to the coaches, volunteers and the BCB for organizing the youth leagues, especially at this uncertain time. We are delighted to play our part in helping our youth cricket teams flourish.”

For the first time, the Under 14 League is sponsored by KPMG with matches being played on Tuesday’s and Friday’s until September 11th at Warwick Academy Field and Harris Bay Field.

Teams include: Warwick Academy, Cleveland County, Somerset Cricket Club, Warwick Workmen’s Club, St George’s Cricket Club and a Bermuda Cricket Board Select team from the Under 15 National Academy.

Steve Woodward, Managing Director and Sector Lead of KPMG Private Enterprise and Chair of the Corporate Citizenship Committee, said, “We are delighted to work with the Bermuda Cricket Board on such an important community initiative as a sponsor of youth cricket in Bermuda.

“As part of our core values, the firm works to support and get involved with various youth initiatives as we recognize how important it is to be involved in the community in which we live and work. We are pleased that the BCB has been able to move ahead with its youth programme this summer and look forward to an exciting competition.”

Arnold Manders, Vice President of the Bermuda Cricket Board and Chairman of Youth Development, added, “The Cricket Board is happy to announce that our Under 11 and 14 & Under Youth Leagues.

“Health and safety protocols will be taken seriously to ensure the safety of all players and staff (temperature checks of all participants, social distancing, hand sanitizing, no sharing of gear etc.). We wish all of the teams the best and hope that the games will be played in the true spirit of cricket and sportsmanship.”
