Despite centuries from Adam Hose, his second of the game, and Tim Rouse, Kamau Leverock and his Somerset teammates had to settle for a draw from their Second XI Championship match against Essex at Halstead.
Resuming on the third day on 185 for two, Somerset declared on 411 for five, of which Rouse made 101 off 104 balls with 19 fours and Hose an unbeaten 120 off 86 deliveries with 14 fours and four 6’s, Leverock did not bat.
Chasing 396 for victory Essex ended the day on 271 for five, Max Waller claiming two for 32 off 15 overs, six of which were maidens. Leverock finished with figures of 11-1-53-0.
ICC AMERICAS UNDER 19 WEST INDIES TOURNAMENT
Meanwhile Nzari Paynter & Chare Smith’s ICC Americas Under 19 match against the Leeward Islands in the West Indies One Day Regional Under 19 Tournament was ruled a No Result after rain washed out play.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARDS
Logic and the Bermuda Cricket Board announced that the Logic Premier Division ‘Player of the Week’ is Janeiro Tucker of Southampton Rangers. In the game against Western Stars Tucker provided a decisive role in a very close match which Rangers won by just 16 runs. Tucker scored 64 runs and took 4 wickets for 39 runs.
The Logic First Division ‘Player of the Week’ is Isaiah Greaves of the St. George’s Cricket Club. Greaves produced a match winning spell of 5 wickets for just 14 runs which proved critical in helping St. George’s defeat Flatt’s by only 4 runs.
