The Bermuda Cricket Board has released a ruling handed down by the Cricket Committee on last weekend matches not played at White Hill Field.
With no explanation, they have awarded the points of the Somerset Bridge vs Somerset Cricket Club match to Somerset Cricket Club and they have awarded five points each to Devonshire Recreation Club and PHC.
However this ruling is direct contradiction of recent ICC handlings, in a statement recently at the conclusion of the ICC Board Meeting attended by Bermuda Crickey Board CEO Neil Speight the ICC announced they were suspending the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) in view of government interference in the board.
The suspension cuts off ICC funding for the CAN, the ICC Board decided that Nepal National teams could continue to feature in ICC events, as they don’t want the players to suffer and not play, the same thing has applied for USA Cricket, but this ruling by the Bermuda Cricket Committee would appear to penalize the Somerset Bridge players and not the Administration of Somerset Bridge.
The matches slated for this weekend will see matches played on both Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday at Lord’s in St. David’s, Southampton Rangers and Cleveland County will take to the field at 11am, and then at 3pm host St. David’s Cricket Club will entertain Willow Cuts.
Up at the Somerset Cricket Club, Flatt’s Victoria and the Devonshire Recreation Club will take to the field at 11am, followed by the St. George’s Cricket Club taking on host Somerset Cricket Club.
On Sunday at Lord’s in St. David’s, Bailey’s Bay will take on the Losers of the Southampton Rangers-Cleveland County match at 11am, followed by the Winners of the Southampton Rangers-Cleveland County match taking on the Winners of St. David’s Cricket Club-Willow Cuts match.
Up at the Somerset Cricket Club, the Losers of the St. George’s Cricket Club-Somerset Cricket Club match will take on either PHC or Devonshire Recreation Club at 11am, while at 3pm the Winners of the St. George’s Cricket Club-Somerset Cricket Club match will take on PHC, Devonshire Recreation Club or Flatt’s Victoria.
