Former Player Express Concerns with BCB

IslandStats.com
As you recently reported the news that Suriname had given back the $25,000.00 they received as preparation funding for World Cricket League Division 5, has made conversation for me and some of my cricket friends very interesting.

As a former player and always talking about how Bermuda can reclaim some respect among the local public I find your story on the Associate and Affiliate reform from ICC quite interesting.

I read most of your stories that you get from international media pertaining to Bermuda and never see or hear a response from the BCB which is why I talk about the local part, because what happens around the ICC we should be putting a lot of things in place locally.

You only hear from the BCB on the eve of a tournament and how they are hoping and expecting the players to do well so the BCB can get more funding.

We seem to have administrators who represent world sporting bodies with great distinction but it does not reflect domestically.

My question like you is how much and how does the BCB manage the funds it gets from ICC to prepare.

I realize the dollar does not go far in Bermuda as it will go in other Associate and Affiliate countries.

Like you I think it’s time the Clubs Executives start to put pressure on the BCB Executives as they do to the players of their performance in helping to get the players ready.

Whenever the team returns from competition, Coaches and Players are criticized no one challenges the BCB Executives and their staff.

I wish you in the media will be just as harsh on them as you are the coaches and players.

This just does not only apply to cricket other sports in Bermuda also.

I am hoping that the BCB and for that matter sports governing bodies have open forums so that interested people could have their voices heard in an open and frank discussions.

Organizations often hold meetings with their clubs, but often times they leave the public who they want and need to support them out of the debate.

Public people who may not have the time to offer a club full time may be able to offer suggestions in a forum that can help sports improve.

Concerned Former Player who wants to Help.
