2007 Bermuda World Cup Game Umpire Suspended

Former Test umpire Asad Rauf has been banned for five years after being found guilty of corruption charges.

Rauf umpired Bermuda’s World Cup match on March 8th, 2007 against Zimbabwe.

The Pakistani was sanctioned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after allegations of spot-fixing in the 2013 Indian Premier League.

Rauf, a former member of the ICC Elite Panel, did not appear at the hearing.

Last month, spinner Ajit Chandila was banned for life and batsman Hiken Shah for five years after being found guilty of corruption.

Who is Asad Rauf?

He made his first-class debut as an umpire in 1998, standing in his first one-day international in 2000

Officiated in his first Test match in 2005 - Bangladesh against Zimbabwe in Chittagong - before being appointed to the ICC elite panel a year later

Was withdrawn from the Champions Trophy in May 2013 after media reports that he was being investigated by police in India. A month later, he was dropped from the elite panel of umpires

In all, he stood in a total of 49 Test matches, 98 ODIs and 23 Twenty20 internationals.
