Clay Smith was announced as the new National Cricket Coach at a Press Conference. Smith’s International career saw him play five One Day Internationals, making his debut against Canada in August 2006. He also represented Bermuda in all eight of their ICC Intercontinental Cup games, four ICC Trophy tournaments and the ICC Americas Championship in 2004 and 2006.
Smith was a member of the Bermuda National team that went to the ICC Cricket World Cup in the West Indies back in 2007.
In the Annual Cup Match Classic, Smith played from 1987 – 2008, he batted 34 times, scoring three centuries, he was not out twice. Smith scored a total of 1,076 runs in the Classic with his highest score of 124. He claimed 2 wickets and took 19 catches.
He has coached several teams to championships and will now have the chance to lead Bermuda from Division 4 higher.
