Respect & Honor is LONG OVERDUE

IslandStats.com
As the saying goes we care more about others than we do ourselves!

It was ten years ago Bermuda's Greatest Cricketing moment came on July 7th 2005 when a heavily criticized team qualified for the Semi-Finals of the ICC Trophy in Ireland.

The Bermuda team consisted of Dennis Archer, Delyone Borden, Lionel Cann, Chris Foggo, Dwayne Leverock, Dean Minors, Saleem Mukuddem, Oliver Pitcher, Irving Romaine, Clay Smith, Albert Steede, Ryan Steede, Janeiro Tucker and Wendell White.

Qualification for the Semi-Finals meant they won a place in the 2007 Cricket World Cup in the West Indies.

Ten years on and all some in Bermuda read about is everything else, we have more history making things and to let this slip for some including www.islandstats.com is unacceptable.

The Bermuda’s 2005 ICC World Cup Qualifying Team and many other history making Sporting persons and teams deserves better, although many constantly say that was not the strongest team Bermuda has every sent, however they did something no other Bermuda team had done before or since and that was to qualify for the World Cup.

At the time a foreign journalist working in Bermuda for a number of years and his local wannabe counterpart continued be little the teams accomplishment as they just qualified and they only qualified because the ICC let five teams in, what they always left out was that Bermuda finished 4th behind Scotland, Ireland and Canada and ahead of the Netherlands.

Now before the critics say well where are we now!, we are dealing with the celebration of the accomplishment and nothing else at this time.

Not to be out be outdone we will some be celebrating the Under 19 World Cup Qualification Teams accomplishments as well.

Also next year will be 40 years that Bermuda celebrate their only Medal at the Olympics won by Clarence Hill during the XXI Olympiad in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

It is Time to stop the everyday highlighting others and start appreciating those who have made Bermuda History.
