O'Brien Bowling IslandStats.com George O’Brien received an official reprimand after pleading Guilty to a Level 1 breach of the Cup Match Code of Conduct during the First Day's play of the 113th Annual Cup Match between Somerset Cricket Club and St George's Cricket Club at Wellington Oval on Thursday July 30th 2015.
O’Brien was found to have breached Article 2.1.3 of the Cup Match Code of Conduct (the "Code") which relates to "showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during the Match."
After bowling the 4th ball in the 23rd Over, O’Brien appealed for an LBW decision which the Umpire turned down the appeal, O’Brien then showed dissent at the Umpire's decision.
O’Brien admitted the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by the Match Referee Roger Dill, as such, there was no need for a formal hearing.
The charge had been laid by the on-field Umpires Kent Gibbons and Emmerson Carrington and third Umpire James Mc Kirdy.
The range of permissible sanctions for all first Level 1 offenses is a warning or reprimand and/or the imposition of a fine of up to 25 per cent of the applicable match fee.
