The Whitney Institute were Crowned the Bermuda School Sports Federation’s Middle School Boys Super 8s Cricket Champions after defeating TN Tatem Middle School in the Final at the National Sports Center.
Whitney batted first and scored 77 runs in their allotted seven overs. Taybre Robinson led the scoring with 16 runs while Jaden Talbot added 15. TN Tatem were then immediately put to the sword when Whitney bowler Sancho Jackson dismissed the TN Tatem opener with his first delivery. He eventually took three wickets for 2 runs in his over.
Robinson compounded TN Tatem’s problems in the next over by taking two wickets for 7 runs. Christian Liyanage displayed some late batting heroics for TN Tatem scoring a boundary filled 28 runs. Despite his efforts TN Tatem fell short in their chase and were bowled out for 64 runs.
Whitney defeated East Enders Clearwater Middle School in their Semi-Final. Clearwater batted first and scored 43 behind 18 runs from Jabari Darrell and 11 from Iyuan Smith. Whitney reached their target with two overs to spare. Top scorer was Najiyah Raynor with 22 and Robinson with 7.
TN Tatem defeated Sandys Secondary Middle School in the other Semi-Final. TN Tatem batted first and scored 74 runs, Jaden Manders led his team with 17 runs while Cajae Warner added 13. Simeon Burrows led the Sandys bowling with 2 wickets for 7 runs. Sandys could only manage 60 runs in reply with Dalin Richardson scoring 18 and Burrows added 12.
