Logic First Division

Match Abandoned

Flatts Victoria 312 Western Stars 118/0

The Logic First Division season did not get off to the best start with one team possibly suspended and a match abandoned. At the St. John’s Field, there was no official umpires, Western Stars President Wayne Campbell who has officiated and is a member of the Bermuda Cricket Umpires Association stood in after both teams agreed to play and have him officiate.

Flatt’s Victoria batted first and scored 312 all out with Dajon Carey and Kevin Hurdle both scoring 82, while Andre Manders had bowling figures of 10-0-38-3. During the Flatts inning there was a dispute about a boundary being called that potentially had the makings to get out of hand but cooler heads prevailed. Campbell was relying on the honesty of the fielders to help him make calls.

In reply Western Stars found themselves on 118/0 when opener Tre Manders believed he had hit a boundary and was walking back to his crease when he was run out after the fielder returned the ball, however players from both teams were then involved in an on field confrontation because some believed it was a boundary, while others believed it was out. Campbell had no choice but to call a halt to the match when things got totally out of hand. At the time Manders was on 61 and Dano Outerbridge was on 54.

Meanwhile Somerset Bridge did not play their weekends Twenty20 or Logic First Division matches as it would appear that the Bermuda Cricket Board have followed through with a suspension handed down to the Club.
