IslandStats.com
Bermuda’s National Men’s Bowling team head out of the island this week for the Central American and Caribbean Bowling Confederation Championships in Guatemala. The Championships runs from June 24th to July 2nd.

Bermuda’s team of Lamar Richardson, Damien Matthews, Rickai Binns, David Maycock, Levinc Samuels Akeem Talbot, Steven Riley, Antoine Jones (Coach) and Calvin Basden will be up against the best bowlers in the Americas.

The team will compete in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team Event and the Masters Event with each event consisting of a total of six qualifying games to determine who will win Gold, Silver and Bronze.

The most prestigious event will be the Team Event which was last won by Team Colombia.

The team has been training the last few months under the watchful eye of Coach Antoine Jones and will also be vying for a qualifying spot in next year’s CAC games in Barranquilla Colombia. The top ten countries with the highest combined pinfall after all the events combined qualify for next year’s CAC games.

Most members of Team Bermuda have a wealth of international experience, having represented Bermuda in various International events in the past. Matthews’ bowled a perfect 300 game at the just completed TNBA Championships in Las Vegas Nevada and also captured a bronze medal at the 2010 CAC games, Maycock missed a bronze medal by one pin in men’s singles at last year’s Commonwealth Championship in Johannesburg South Africa, and Talbot will be making his international debut.
