ISL Launches (Sample)
Indoor soccer pro David Bascome launches the Island’s first-ever professional league.
The six-a-side league will run from May through to August at the National Sports Centre featuring eight local teams.
Baltimore Blast veteran Bascome will be hanging up his boots with that club in order to put all of his efforts into his role as Commissioner of what will be known as the Island Soccer League.
The league’s mission would be threefold:
To create a professional environment for Bermuda’s most talented players.
To establish Bermuda’s players as role models for the Island’s youth, and;
To help Bermudian soccer reach its full potential.
The ISL will have a solid foundation that will provide growth and success. It will offer exciting, fast-paced entertainment and it will have enormous appeal to our youth and families. The success of the ISL will come from hard work and trust.
All games will be played on a Friday or Saturday night with championship play-offs following the regular season, much the same way the Major Indoor Soccer League is operated in the USA.

Play will be between teams of six with multiple substitutions – the aim being to create high-scoring, fast-paced action.

First regular season games are scheduled for May 4, 2007.
