Harvey Reaches B Final In France

IslandStats.com
Bermudian Olympic swimmer Jack Harvey secured a valuable top-12 overall finish after battling through an elite international field at the 38th Meeting International de Canet-en-Roussillon in southern France.

Competing at the prestigious Arlette Franco Swimming Center, the national backstroke specialist faced a grueling schedule across multiple disciplines on the Mare Nostrum circuit.

Harvey’s standout performance came in his signature event, the 100m Backstroke. A sharp and controlled display in the morning preliminaries saw him clock 55.78 seconds to claim 15th place and comfortably seal a spot in the evening's B Final.

Returning to the pool for the final blocks, Harvey hung tough against formidable continental opposition, touching the wall in 56.13 seconds to claim fourth in the race and secure 12th position overall.

Earlier in the meet, the Bermudian used the sprint events to test his raw speed against the world's best. He narrowly missed out on a final berth in the 50m Backstroke, stopping the clock in 26.48 seconds to finish 24th overall—just over a second adrift of the leading pace.

Harvey also lined up in a fiercely contested 100m Freestyle field, finishing 62nd overall in a solid time of 51.94 seconds.

The high-calibre meet in France serves as a crucial competitive benchmark for Harvey as he continues to sharpen his form against world-class opposition ahead of upcoming major international assignments on the global calendar.

Harvey Lowers National Record in Barcelona

IslandStats.com
Bermudian Olympian Emma Harvey continued her spectacular start to the international long-course season, lowering her own national benchmark in a star-studded field at the prestigious Mare Nostrum Swim Series in Barcelona.

Competing at the Club Natació Sant Andreu, the 24-year-old former UCLA standout produced a flawless tactical display in the Women’s 50m Butterfly to shave five-hundredths of a second off her previous standard.

Harvey’s blistering time of 26.54 seconds in the showpiece A Final eclipsed the previous national record of 26.59 seconds, which she set earlier this year on January 17 at the USA Swimming Pro Swim Series in Austin, Texas.

The tone was set during the morning preliminary sessions, where the field was packed with European and World Championship pedigree. Harvey navigated a heavily stacked heat, stopping the clock in a fluid 26.76 seconds to comfortably punch her ticket to the final as the fifth-fastest qualifier.

Returning to the blocks for the evening’s main event, Harvey exploded into her transition and maintained a superb stroke rate against an elite vanguard of sprinting talent.

The record-breaking performance provides a massive injection of momentum for the Bermudian star as she continues her multi-city European tour across Monaco, Canet, and Spain. With the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow looming on the horizon later this year, Harvey’s elite execution in Barcelona proves she is firmly on target to challenge the very best in the world.

Jones & Wheddon Reign Supreme as Champions Crowned

IslandStats.com
Three days of relentless, high-octane racing reached a thrilling conclusion at the National Sports Centre, where Bermuda's finest aquatic talents were officially crowned at the Ascot Bermuda National Championships 2026.

The premier event on the domestic swimming calendar lived up to its billing, delivering blistering times, tactical masterclasses, and standout individual performances across both the junior and senior divisions.

The marquee 13 and Over divisions saw the island's elite step up to the blocks under immense pressure, but it was Logan Jones who stole the headlines.

Jones put on a clinic in versatility and power, racking up a massive, weekend-high 3,457 points to comfortably secure the 13 & Over Boys Individual Championship. His performance further solidifies his status as one of the region's most formidable long-course competitors.

On the girls' side, Katherine Wheddon proved untouchable in the 13 & Over division. Wheddon compiled an exceptional tally of 3,955 points, mixing raw sprinting speed with tactical maturity to cruise to the individual crown.

The future of Bermudian swimming also looks exceptionally bright if the 12 & Under categories are any indication.

Eva Desjardins produced a stellar, dominant display to claim the 12 & Under Girls Individual Championship. Desjardins was a model of consistency over the grueling three-day meet, amassing 2,664 points to leave her closest rivals trailing in her wake.

Meanwhile, Maxwell Williams dug deep to claim the 12 & Under Boys Individual crown. In a highly competitive field where margins were incredibly tight, Smith's tactical execution across his core events earned him 1,702 points, enough to safely bring the championship trophy home.

With the domestic curtain coming down on this year's championships, Bermuda’s elite will now turn their focus to the international stage, armed with a host of fresh personal bests and championship silverware.
