Bermuda‘s final game of the VIII Caribbean Region Little League Championship Tournament against the Jamaica saw them go down 7 - 6.
Yari Ming had a sensational outing pitching, while David Jones showed some exceptional speed running the bases and Zach Stecko hit for a triple.
Kevin Lohan said, “The game was a nail biter and could have gone either way with Jamaica triumphing in the end. Both sides played their hearts out, with Jamaica earning their first win in the tournament in their third year at the tournament“.
The VIII Caribbean Championship Baseball Little League, "Major" Division (11-12 years) is being held in Bonaire , Netherlands Antilles .
The winning team will represent the Caribbean in the World Series to be held in Williamsport , U.S.A. August 15th to 24th, 2008. Nine countries are taking part in this event, which is a record for participation.
“This might be the end of this tournament for Bermuda but it is a great beginning for Bermuda Youth Baseball. Our boys have learnt much in Baseball, teamwork and other cultures. Team, Coaches and Parents are tired but proud of what has been accomplished and already looking forward to what can be improved to pave the way for future years”, conclude Lohan.
