Somerset Cancel 20/20
The Somerset Cricket Club 20/20 has been cancelled for the remainder of May & June. The tournament will resume in August with the elimination rounds.
David Hemp & Glamorgan
Just 29.5 overs were possible on the third day of Glamorgan's LV County Championship match against Derbyshire at a dank SWALEC Stadium, during which time Charl Langeveldt took five wickets during the morning session as the Welsh county were dismissed for 384, giving them a first innings lead of 95.
Resuming on their overnight score of 301/3, Glamorgan lost David Hemp in the second over of the morning as he was caught at bat-pad for 104 playing forward to Nayan Doshi adding one run to his to his overnight score. Mark Wallace then joined Jamie Dalrymple, with the pair continuing to adopt a positive outlook , with Wallace striking Doshi through the offside for consecutive fours as the fifth wicket pair consolidated further on their healthy position produced by the torrent of runs in yesterday`s abbreviated play.
However, when Derbyshire took the new ball in the 85th over the run spree halted and the complexion of the contest changed as it heralded a mini-collapse, with six wickets falling for 39 runs in the space of 11.3 overs. After Wallace had struck the first delivery with the new cherry for an all-run four, Charl Langeveldt torpedoed the Glamorgan keeper with a delivery that appeared to scuttle through, under Wallace's bat. Five overs later, with the total on 360, the South African rattled the stumps again as he yorked Dalrymple for 27 and then next ball, Robert Croft was caught behind by Freddie Klokker as he sparred at a short delivery outside off stump.
Jason Gillespie survived the hat-trick ball, but in the next over, he was trapped leg before by Jon Clare leaving Glamorgan on 363/8. Eleven runs later, Langeveldt claimed a fourth victim as he bowled James Harris, before adding a fifth scalp as David Harrison chipped a ball into mid-off's hands to give Langeveldt the fine figures of 5/22 from 6.5 overs with the new ball.
After facing a couple of overs before lunch, Derbyshire were 4 without loss when a band of persistent rain arrived at the Cardiff ground during the interval, washing out play for the rest of the day.
