Erica Hawley competed at Blenheim Palace in the British Youth Elite High Performance Triathlon Series. This race is one of the races in the National Series of High Performance.
The draft legal races attracts young Triathletes from all over the UK, Wales and Scotland, the competitors took part in a 400m Swim/13.2K Bike and 2.9K Run.
Hawley finished 19th overall in a time of 54:02. The swim was in a lake with the water temperature just 59 degrees but Hawley had a great Swim and came out with the lead pack.
The Bike Course was hilly with a strong breeze and grey skies. Hawley stayed with a small pack for the first lap of the Bike but the pace was too much and she dropped off in the second lap. The run was rolling and tough.
This was Hawley's first race at this level here in the UK as she has just moved up into this new category. The next race in the series is July 13th which is on an invitation basis is the British Championships in Liverpool which Hawley has been invited to compete.
