The New 50m Aquatics Pool at the National Sports Center was officially opened by the acting Premier Michael Dunkley.
Invited guests to the Grand Opening heard that the finishing of the pool is not the end, but just another step in the direction of completion of the Sports Center.
The Chairman of the National Sports Center Trustees Sean Tucker, thank those before him who had a vision of seeing this pool become a reality, Tucker said, “I want to thank those chairman who before me laid the foundation, I would also like the thank the former Minister of Sports Glenn Blakeney, because he believed in the Trustees and went to bat for us, I would finally like to thank my trustees colleagues as we have all worked hard to make this happen.”
Acting Premier Dunkley said, “I would like to challenge the entire island to help make this pool a vibrant and self-sustaining institution.”
Guess were treated to a special Dive from Katura Horton-Perinchief. Horton-Perinchief became the first black woman to compete in Olympic Diving when she took part in the 2004 Olympics.
