BASA Records Set in New Pool

Following the Four Day Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association’s Bermuda National Swimming Championships, we can now report that a total of 13 Records were broken over the four day meet.

The National Championships was the first Major event held at the National Aquatics Center at the National Sports Center and according to many the event was a huge success.

Finn Moseley is now the 8 and Under Boys 50m Backstroke record holder after touching the wall in a time of 42.42, breaking Jack Harvey’s record of 0:44.86 set on May 5th, 2012. Moseley also now holds the 8 and Under Boys 100m Backstroke record holder with a time of 1:34.93, breaking Nicholas Thomson’s records of 1:36.91 set on October 21st, 2000

Emma Harvey broke her own 11 and 12 Girls 50m Butterfly record of 31.14 set on May 18th, 2013, when she clocked 30.92. Harvey is also the 11 and 12 Girls 200m Individual Medley record holder with a new time of 2:37.73; breaking her own record of 2:38.41 set on April 27th, 2013

The 11 and 12 Girls 4x50m Freestyle Relay record holders Emma Harvey, Lynsey Palmer, Alyssa Paynter and Ashley Irby set a new time of 2:04.39, breaking their own record of 2:06.65 set on May 18th, 2013

Shannon Hassell broke her own 13 and 14 Girls 100m Backstroke time of 1:08.79 set on May 18th, 2013, by clocking a time of 1:07.71, Hassell also now holds the 13 and 14 Girls 200m Freestyle record of 2:12.17, breaking Ashley Yearwood’s record of 2:14.04 set on November 28th, 2008.

Madelyn Moore broke her own 13 and 14 Girls 50m Backstroke time of 31.27 set on May 17th, 2013 when she touched the wall in a time of 31.24, Moore also broke her own 50m Butterfly record of 30.56 set on May 18th, 2013, touching the wall in 30.43.

Jesse Washington broke three of his own 13 and 14 Boys records first he broke the 50m Freestyle clocking a time of 24.56, breaking his own record of 0:24.87 set on April 27th, 2013. Washington then set a new 100m Freestyle clocking a time of 53.98, breaking his own record of 0:54.27 set on April 27th, 2013 and then Washington broke the 200m Freestyle record clocking 1:59.09, breaking his own record of 1:59.42 set on May 18th, 2013.

Philip Hagen now holds the 15 and 16 Boy’s 100m Breaststroke record after clocking 1:12.53, breaking Julian Fletcher’s record of 1:13.92 set on June 10th, 2007.
