The Pelham Youth Rugby Under-15 team scored an impressive 22-12 victory over the Bermuda Under 15 National Team at Randalls Island in New York City. The victory was Pelham's first international win as Luke Persanis scored three Trys and got strong support from Josh Quinn, North Westall, Cian Burns, Matt Rabinowitz, Matt Biskup, Kevin Ndou, David Monaco and Morgan Collins. Pelham dominated the early play against the visitors, who were previously unbeaten on their trip to Canada. The locals kept Bermuda deep in its own end early and Persanis picked up the ball out of the scrum and split two defenders to crash over for the first of his three scores. Westall sliced through for Pelham ‘s second score, taking the score to 10-0, where it remained until the half. Shortly after halftime, Quinn looked to score but the whistle had already blown, with the referee awarding a penalty to Pelham. Persanis then drove through a couple of would-be tacklers for Pelham’s third score.
Bermuda punched in a score and kicked the conversion to make the score to 15-7, Bermuda then scored again to cut the Pelham led to 15-12. With the game still at 15-12, Pelham's defense stuffed Bermuda back into their own end and eventually forced a knock-on. Pelham was awarded a scrum 20 yards out. Off the scrum, Persanis picked up the ball and ran in untouched for his third try and a 20-12 lead. Cian Burns made the conversion to take the score 22-12.
