BBA All-Star Write Up

IslandStats.com
As www.islandstats.com reported yesterday, the Bermuda Basketball Association’s Cellone All-Star Weekend began with the skills competition which was won by Vernon Lambe who slipped during his run but stayed focused on his way to victory.

The 3 point competition was won by Jason Simons when the finals turned out to be the battle of the Jasons as Jason Lowe succumbed to the pressure and Jason Simons rose to 2013 supremacy.

The Slam Dunk competition saw Te’Jour Riley and Dion Easton battle for the title . Riley won after performing a dunk so spectacular that Easton felt his only chance at winning was to use his two attempts in the finals on a dunk which required him to catch a ball thrown to him while leaping over Reggie Tolosa. Had he achieved this dunk he may have been right but missing both attempts secured Riley's King of the RIM 2013 status. Easton's last words next year he will unseat Riley.

The first game had Elite City League Rookie team and the Sophomore team take to the floor with the Rookies winning 34 – 28. High score for Rookie team was Keiron Dill with 16 points and the high score for Sophomore was Dion Easton with 11 points.

In the second game the Bermuda National team defeated the Cellone ECL Select team 50 - 33. High score Bermuda National Team was Chris Crumpler with 15 points, while Keven Stevens scored 7 points for the Cellone ECL Select team.

Coach Derrick Hendrickson had his ECL select primed for an upset as at the half they were down by 1. Unfortunately whatever National team Coach Roderick Spenser had to say to his team lit a fire under them as they picked apart the select team using both on and off the ball screens to free players.

In the end the National Team Gold medal pedigree showed the select why they are the two time defending Island Games Gold medallists.
