It was an absolute nail-biter in Babe Ruth League action at the YAO Baseball Field with a true Tug-of-War match between the Orioles and Athletics.
With the Athletics edging the Orioles 7 – 6.
Both sides got off to an early start on offense with the Orioles grabbing 2 walks, a Double by Liam Evans, and a Single by KJ Moreno to score 2 in the first. While on the other side of things, the Athletics grabbed a walk and a Single by James Patterson.
Into the 3rd inning the Orioles added another run and the Athletics strung together a few hits to even up the score at 3-3. The Athletics bats stayed alive into thru the 4th adding 2 runs and 5th as they tacked on 1 more from a sacrifice by Sakima Richards.
Into the 7th inning, with the Athletics up 6-3, the Orioles took the game down to the wire, adding 3 runs in the top half of the 7th led by a second Single and RBI for Moreno.
It all came down to the bottom of the 7th. Jaylen Martin Doubled with 1 out down the left field line. With 2 out, and Martin on 3rd base it came down to a battle between two veteran players, Moreno on the mound and James Patterson at the plate. With the count 2 balls-no strikes, Patterson dropping a Single into right field for the Walk Off RBI win.
