The Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) and Chivas Regal, the leader in quality blended scotch, are delighted to announce the inaugural winner of the weekly the Chivas Cricket Sportsman Award (CCSA). The BCB is very pleased to confirm that the BCUA has selected Rodney Trott from Bailey's Bay as the Chivas Sportsman of the week.
In the match between Bailey's Bay and Devonshire Recreation Club Rodney Trott constantly assisted Devonshire Rec's captain with various aspects of the playing conditions at a time when he could have stayed silent and allowed Rec to be penalized (fielders in the restricting area). He also properly managed his players and kept them well within the Spirit of the Game.
Lloyd Fray, President of the Bermuda Cricket Board said, "I am proud of our National Team Vice-Captain Trott for his outstanding display of sportsmanship and chivalry during his match against Devonshire Recreation Club. The BCB Executive are constantly encouraging the national team players to take their high performance coaching lessons and international experiences and apply them in domestic cricket. Rodney has exemplified these traits in this match and has set a great example to both our younger and more senior players."
Charles Gosling, Managing Director Goslings Brothers Ltd., “We are proud to partner with the Bermuda Cricket Board to introduce the Chivas Cricket Sportsman Award (CCSA) to the cricketer who has shown the best example of sportsmanship throughout one of the previous week's matches. It is our hope that this partnership will promote and encourage local cricketers to aspire to receive this sportsmanship award while further broadening their position as role models to our community."
The Chivas motto is 'Live with Chivalry,' and cricket is renowned for being a gentleman's sport, therefore this new partnership is a clear and solid choice.
