Following the Schroders Summer Age Championships the Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association has announced that a total of 27 Short Course records were broken over the 4 day meet. Today we bring you the new records of the Boy’s 13 - 14 and 15 – 16 Age Group Record Holders.
In the Boy’s 13 and 14 Age Group Jesse Washington is now the 50m Butterfly, record holder clocking a time of 27.09, breaking Darren Wood’s record of 28.14 set on June 8th, 2001, Washington also broke the 100m Backstroke record with a time of 1:03.16, breaking Nicholas Thomson’s record of 1:04.27 set on June 11th, 2006.
Washington set a new 100m Butterfly record with a time of 1:01.00, breaking Nicholas Patterson’s record of 1:03.49 set on March 14th, 2009 and then Washington broke a record that had previously stood for 24 years clocking 1:59.42 during the 200m Freestyle, that time broke Geri Mewett’s record of 1:59.78 set on August 1st, 1989.
Philip Hagen set a new Boy’s 15 and 16 record during the 400m Individual Medley clocking a time of 5:07.73, breaking Nicholas Patterson’s record of 5:10.66 set on March 19th, 2011 and then Hagen set a new 100m Individual Medley record touching the wall in a time of 1:05.11, breaking his own record of 1:05.35 set on February 23rd, 2013.
The new 15 – 16 Boy’s 4x50 Freestyle Relay record holders are Hagen, Shannon Botelho, Ferdinand Arnold and Washington with a time of 1:48.48, breaking their own record of 1:49.01 set on March 16th, 2013
The same foursome are also the 15 – 16 Boy’s 4x50 Medley Relay record holders after completing the race in a time of 2:01.12, breaking their own record set on April 27th, 2013.
