The Bermuda Football Association is pleased to announce that the England C Team will play the Bermuda National team on Tuesday, June 4th at the National Sports Center. This match is a significant one, as it is the first time that an official England team will visit our island and compete against our national team in football. The anticipated arrival of the England C team under the management of Mr. Paul Fairclough, who also serves as the Director of Football for the Barnet Football Club, has piqued the interest of our players and coaching staff.
The England C team is made up of players who are signed with Conference National League clubs and provides a platform to seek a professional contract in one of the four divisions of English Football. As of 2012, the England C team has faced national U23 opposition from Italy, Russia, Belgium and most recently versus Turkey in a 1-0 loss. The Bermuda National team will use this opportunity to build towards the NatWest Island Games to be held in Bermuda in from July 13th -19th.
The England C and Bermuda National team will visit Government House and will have an opportunity to meet with His Excellency George Fergusson. During their stay on the island, the C team will interact with our coaching staff and youth players, offering firsthand advice on what it takes to become a professional football player in the UK. The BFA is delighted to have the England C Team visit and not only offer stern opposition but too also offer insight and access, to our increasing pool of potential pro players.
Bermuda's national team will be led by Mr. John Barry Nusum (Captain) and will feature four of our overseas professionals led by, Dale Eve (Stoke City Football Club), Reggie Lambe (Toronto FC), Jonte Smith (Crawley Town FC) and Taureen Manders (Antigua Barracudas). In addition to our pro players we have three UK Non-league team members that have returned to Bermuda to participate in this historic match (Antwan Russell, Lejaun Simmons and Dante Leverock).
Nahki Wells (Bradford Football Club) is unavailable but is scheduled to attend the match at the National Sports Center. The Bermuda Football Association will recognize his outstanding and historic achievements with Bradford FC on June 4th at the National Sports Centre. We look forward to Bermuda supporting our National Team and join us in recognizing Nahki Wells for his success with Bradford and for being an outstanding ambassador for Bermuda.
