After finishing second in team points at the Ivy League Women's Rowing Championships, Shelley Pearson and her Harvard Heavyweight crew have been selected to the field of the NCAA Rowing Championships.
Harvard will join 21 other institutions vying for a National Title in Indianapolis, May 31st - June 2nd.
Harvard, which featured the No. 8 ranked First Varsity Crew in the country prior to the Ivy regatta, is one of five Ivy League teams invited to Indianapolis' Eagle Creek Park. Pearson and her Varsity Eight teammates will start the championship in Heat One against USC, Yale, Washington State and Oklahoma.
Harvard will race in the NCAA regatta for the third straight year and 15th time during the 17-year history of the event. Harvard earned a varsity eight bid in 1997 and then team berths in eight straight seasons and again in 2007, '08, '09, '11 and '12. Harvard won the NCAA team and varsity eight championships in 2003.
