The Bermuda Women’s National Team unfortunately did not win any matches during play at the USA Volleyball Open National Championships but despite the losses, the team improved with every match.
Head Coach Juanita Blee said, “The team was definitely challenged with every match as the teams in their Division were tough. The team started coming together really well in the later part of the tournament. This is a positive step towards in our preparation for the NatWest Island Games being held in Bermuda in July.”
Bermuda took on Rogues in their first match going down 25-12, 25-10, they next stepped on the court to take on Top Gun going down 25-22, 25-17
Bermuda next took on the Swingers which went three sets, Bermuda won the first set 25-14, but the Swingers would win the next two sets 25-16, 15-6. Twitch then defeated Bermuda 25-14, 25-19.
The Motorboat Ladies defeated Bermuda in straight sets 25-13, 25-14, but then Bermuda fought the Six Odd Broads in a three set battle. Bermuda won the first set 27-25, and then the Six Odd Broads won the next two sets 25-18, 15-8.
After round robin, teams were put into pools depending on their standings. Bermuda were put into Flight 7 were they would face Team 307 and yet again it would go three sets. Team 307 would win the first set 25-15, but Bermuda would bounce back and win the second set 25-22, Team 307 would then win the third and final set 15-13.
