YAO Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth League Round Up's

The YAO Baseball Season Cal Ripken League continued at the YAO Ball Park were the Red Sox battled the Orioles. The Red Sox came out hitting and hitting often, with 6 of 7 first batters scoring in the bottom of the first inning. The Orioles could not shut down the Red Sox offense who then scored 8 runs in the 3rd. The Orioles started a comeback in the 4 & 5th innings by scoring 10, but falling short going down 14 - 10.

The win put the Red Sox only one game out of first place and dropping the Orioles to 2-6 on the season.

All Red Sox players hit safely and scored at least once, as Narsje Brokington pitched 3 and 2/3 of inning earning the win. The Red Sox hitting clinic was led by Daniel Exell, Brockington, Declan McKittrick and Matt Ingelman. The Orioles were led by Echo Valdez, Liam McCue and Alex Bordage.

The Mets defeated the Phillies, the Mets were led by Kalea Fox, Stephan Paynter and Finlay Turnball.

In the Babe Ruth League the Athletics defeated the Orioles 18 – 10, it was a tough game for the Orioles this week as the team was plagued with injuries to pitchers. Chris Ricca got the start on the mound for the Orioles, however after a rough first inning, left the game due to illness. The Orioles got some offense going early, scoring 5 runs in the first 3 innings.

Owen Neal came in to pitch for the Orioles and put in a stellar effort on the mound. Neal pitched 5 innings and recorded 8 strikeouts, his season best!

The day did belong to the Athletics led by team captain James Patterson who was on fire at the plate. Patterson, who was just a homerun shy of hitting for the cycle, went 4-4 with a Single, 2 Doubles, a Triple and 4 RBI’s.
