Tyrone Van Aswegen fired a seven-under 65 at the Mexico Championship presented by Banamex during the morning wave on Friday. Michael Putnam, the leader after round one, will finish his second round at El Bosque Country Club starting at 8 a.m. CT. For the second day in a row play has been suspended for the day with nearly half the field yet to complete their second round.
Michael Sims completed his First Round 1-over par 73 finishing T70th.
Sims started out on the Back Nine running off six Consecutive Pars, before recording a Birdie on the par 4 sixteenth, this was followed by a Bogey on the par 4 seventeenth and then he closed out his first nine holes with a Birdie on the par 5 eighteenth to make the turn at 1-under par.
On the Front Nine Sims ran off six consecutive Pars, but then had back to back Bogey’s on the par 3 seventh and par 5 eighth, he closed out his round with a Par to finish at 1-over par.
