The Bermuda National Athletic Association held a Track Meet at the National Sports Center in celebration of the IAAF World Athletics Day.
Those in attendance witnessed a bit of history as Ryan Wilson became the first athlete to run the Men’s 19 & Over 3000m Steeplechase where he finished in a time of 10:12.63.
Tamika Williams won the Women’s Open 1500m race crossing the line in a time of 4:45.08, while Eddie Fisher clocked 5:49.38 on his way to winning the Men’s Open 1500m race.
Tiara DeRosa threw another Personal Best while taking part in the Under 17 Girls Shot Put with a toss of 12.08m, while Bruce De Grilla leaped 7.03m competing in the Under 20 Boy’s Long Jump.
A battle ensued in the Under 17 Boys 400 Meter Dash between Michiah Robinson and Antonio Bailey. Robinson held an early lead, but Bailey took the lead just before the 200m mark, the pair were locked shoulder to shoulder with 50m to go when Robinson found another gear and crossed the line first clocking 50.06 and bailey finished in a time of 50.15.
Quinnae Outerbridge led from start to finish on her way to winning the Under 17 Girls 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:00.16, Azaire Smith finished second with a time of 1:01.26 and Jaymie Darrell finished third with a time of 1:03.36.
